Xiaomi Mi A1 is an Android One device with dual cameras for Rs. 14,999


Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi today announced its latest smartphone, the Mi A1. While the hardware is designed and manufactured by Xiaomi, Google will be the one designing the software. Google and Xiaomi are launching the Mi A1 as an Android One device.
Xiaomi is touting the Mi A1 as a phone with flagship dual camera setup, with one regular 12MP lens and another 12MP telephoto lens. The rear camera also comes with Beautify 3.0 and 2X optical zoom, trying to redefine the camera experience in the budget segment.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 runs on stock Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. During the launch, it was revealed by Google that the Mi A1 will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo before the end of 2017. Apart from this, the phone also comes with the Mi Camera app for an enhanced camera experience.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with a 5.5 inch full HD display with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass on top. The pixel density of the phone comes in at ~401 PPI, which is quite adequate at this price. The phone features a full metal unibody design and a dual pyrolytic sheet which will keep the device’s temperature down by up to 2 degree celsius.
Like many Xiaomi phones in the mid-range, the Mi A1 is also powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. It will be coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card.

The Mi A1 comes with a dual camera setup on the back. The setup features a pair of 12MP cameras, with one 12MP wide angle camera and one 12MP telephoto lens. The rear camera offers a pixel size of 1.25μm, Phase Detection Autofocus and dual tone dual LED flash. On the front, the phone comes with a 5MP camera.
Connectivity options include dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and Infrared. Apart from the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, the Mi A1 also features an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
The Mi A1 is powered by a 3,080mAh battery and it comes with a USB Type C port. Xiaomi has also bundled a special 380V charger with the Mi A1 for the Indian market.

Pricing and Availability

The Mi A1 has been priced at Rs. 14,999 and will go on sale in India on September 12 at 12 noon from Mi.com, Flipkart and Mi Home stores. It will also be available from various offline stores such as Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, LOT, Croma, Pai, Ezone, UniverCell and some other stores.
Google and Xiaomi are also expanding the Android One program with the Mi A1 to dozens of other countries listed below.
